The World Economic Forum on Latin America was held in April in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the aim of debating the challenges, risks and opportunities facing Latin American countries in the current social and economic conditions.
As a member of the Social Entrepreneurs Network of the Schwab Foundation, Terra Nova’s founder André Albuquerque was present at the forum to talk about his company’s methods to improve the housing status of low-income populations to his fellow social entrepreneurs.
One of Terra Nova’s official engagements was to participate in the roundtable “Eliminating Poverty: Practical Solutions”, which discussed actions to do away with poverty and new approaches on microfunding.
The World Economic Forum on Latin America examined political, economic and social issues including transparency, adaptation and long-term stability, which are necessary requirements to boost confidence in markets and business environments. The meeting brought together world and regional leaders from business, government and civil society to share strategic knowledge on how to tackle challenges and contribute to a more inclusive future for Latin America.

About the Schwab Foundation:
Created in 1988 by Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, and his wife Hilde, the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship seeks to promote socially-committed corporate solutions that make a significant impact on the lower ranks of society and to foster the sharing of expertise among successful entrepreneurs. Through the Global Leaders Network they are able to get in touch with leaders from the international scene, as well as with business, politics, academic and media personalities.
In Brazil, the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo represents the Schwab Foundation in all matters concerning the Social Entrepreneur Award, which was won by Terra Nova in 2008 and, among other things, led to its joining the Global Leaders Network and other similar organizations.
