Terra Nova granted the 2017 SDG Seal

21/08/2017

Terra Nova was awarded the 2017 SDG Seal, an initiative from SESI Paraná (the local industries association) designed to acknowledge and promote organizations whose practices contribute to compliance with UN’s Sustainable Development Goals within the state of Paraná.

The seal will be conferred to Terra Nova at the 2017 SDG SESI Awards, to be held in Curitiba on 17 October during the SDG SESI Congress.

“We are highly honored to receive this recognition. We know that our work is an instrument of social change that can improve the lives of thousands of families all over Brazil. The granting of the 2017 SDG Seal will both strengthen us and confirm that we are on the right path in our efforts to reduce poverty and help our cities become fairer and more equal places for everyone”, said André Albuquerque, social entrepreneur and founder of Terra Nova.

By providing access to property titles for families that live precariously in irregular urban areas, thus preventing their eviction and ensuring that properties meet their social purpose, Terra Nova’s practices are helping Brazil to achieve SDGs 1 and 11, while favorably influencing compliance with SDGs 6, 10, 16 and 17.

Terra Nova’s purpose is to reduce poverty and social inequality by helping cities and human settlements to become more inclusive, sustainable, safer and stronger, as well as to provide a healthier environment and advance the well-being of families in irregular areas, thus allowing communities to become more peaceful and inclusive, with access to justice and human rights for all.
